How do you fix a playstation 3 that only plays playstation1 games?

Q. I found this one playstation 3 at a cheap price and I want to buy it but it says that the only problem with out I'd that out only read ps1 games. Please someone tell me hoe to fix it so that i can buy. The only I know about it is that out is a 80gb console.

A. It may be cheap, but will end up costing a fortune to fix... My advise is don't buy it. Why would a PS3 only play PS1 games, would send a red flag to me.. Try looking out on ebay or gumtree in your area for a cheap ps3 which actually plays PS3 games. Also I have found the older style of PS3 (fat) seems to be more reliable than the updated slimlines.

How do I fix my playstation 3 at this part?
Q. Ok, so I turn on my playstation 3. It loads up perfectly and then when it gets to main page nothing comes up, I don't get signed in or anything. It just stays there. There is no playstation network, Game, playstation store, nothing. All i see is my backround. How do I fix this?
Where do I go to fix it?

A. you may have to send it in for maintenance. its a common fault not your fault.

What is a free place to find a pdf playstation 3 repair manual or a good video to watch?
Q. My playstation 3 has no video display but still has audio. I have tried the obvios fixes but cant find a good site where I caN GET SOME GOOD INFO or a free pdf of a manual .

A. might not be much help BUT have you tried your ps3 on a difference tv? Still didn't work? Well if audio still works, i can say u need a wire replacement. Your video wire connection the White or Yellow one is broken. You can buy a new one some where.

hmm... Tried that to????? Well, as i did with my Wii, send your ps3 to playstation and have them look at it! it could be your actual system.

Any advice on how to fix my playstation 3 fan system?
Q. My playstation 3's fan recently stopped working to full power... it spins but not enough to keep the system cool. after a few seconds the system will freeze with different colors or random green dots. I can try to get it to turn on long enough to reformat but i am not sure if that will fix the system.

Thank You In Advanced.

A. Open the case of ur ps3 and clean it.And clean also ur house, dust is the biggest enemy of electronics.

Is there any way to fix a Playstation 3 controller bluetooth function that has been damaged by water?
Q. I can plug it in to the Playstation 3 and have the lights light up, but when I try to use it wireless the lights won't light up, which has led me to think that its the bluetooth function thats broken.

How do I remove website saved user name and passwords from the PlayStation 3 web browser?
Q. I typed the correct user name but not the correct user password into a web page on my PlayStation 3. Now it holds onto that bad password and wont even take the manually typed correct password. I tried deleting everything form any delete options in the web browser, but it still holds that bad password.

Note: that I don't desire to reformat to fix this and lose my save files for un finished games.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 Elite?
Q. My brother and I are going to get either a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 Elite. He is being ignorant about getting an Xbox and I want to know how much better Playstation 3 is.

A. In addition to what the others said:

For online,

The PS3 has free online play, but is not as good as Xbox LIVE in terms of population and activeness, but it has a fairly nice community. If you want to speak to players, any Bluetooth headset would do.

Xbox LIVE has a very excellent online network and system, but you have to pay monthly or yearly.
$20 USD for 3 months, $50 for a year. There is also a 1 month, but I think it's discontinued, I'm not certain. You'll also find a lot of really "open" players from around the world, but you can put that into consideration if that concerns you. Xbox LIVE is known for its rowdy audience :P

For talking online, you'll need a headset, a basic and easily-breaking one is around $20 (you can probably find a used one though for around $10), but the wireless one is $50, I think. The Elite should have it's own though.

Also, the Xbox 360 is known to be unreliable due to it's high failure rate, but the newer models are a bit better. It can vary from person to person, but as long as you don't open the 360 and fix what's inside, and just send it to Microsoft with your warranty if it gets the Red Ring of Death (RRoD), with that, you should be fine. It shouldn't happen with the newer ones like the Elite, but just have the warranty whenever that chance happens. There's also the probability of disc scratching, so try not to move the console around while a disc is inside, and put the console in a nice, well-ventilated room. It would be better to put it on a wooden surface or wire rack.

They both have their upcoming exclusives so what ever genre you like, that's what you should lean toward. Both work with shooters well, but the 360 is slightly better because that's where the shooter community is, and that the handling of the controller is much better.

For fighting games, the PS3 is your best bet. The fighter community cannot stand the pain that the 360 d-pad brings, but whatever floats for you. I found it harsh as well. If you play just for fun, you probably won't mind it on the 360.

For RPG's, both are good. It's just that the earlier RPG's are lacking, from what I hear. The PS3 seems to be catching up with its RPG tradition though, getting many of its RPG's back on track, so watch out for that.

In terms of graphics, they are similar, neck-to-neck. If anyone tells you if one is better, they are wrong. Its just that no game has used the graphical limits of Blu-ray (PS3). All in all, if you have an HDTV, you're set for both. Graphics don't really make the game; its just eye-candy.

Good luck on your choice! :)

Is there any trusted places where i can have my playstation 3 repaired?
Q. my playstation 3 has broke and i think it is the lazer and mechanism, i want to take it to a shop to get repaired. Does anybody know any shops that do playstation 3 repairs in yorkshire?

What is up with my internet connection, router and Playstation 3?
Q. I have about 8 things currently connected to my internet connection right now, 4 Handphones,3 Computers and a Playstation 3. I play a lot of games on the PC and the Playstation 3. An annoying thing that always happens even though I keep on switching routers and modems is my router keeps on dropping and my internet connection gets terminated. I would have to reset/reboot my internet connection via router login. P.S, I do not switch my router and modem off at all.

A. There are plenty of reasons why your internet can drop frequently.
Common issues are faulty routers, or bad internet service. (ie: you may WANT to run 1000 things at once, but maybe you're not paying for a plan that allows you to do that)

Something you can actually do really quick that most people aren't aware of is Change your Channel!
Locating your Channel will be different based on the Router you're using to connect to the Internet, but it's all generally the same. (The Links/Wording may be different)

BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING, TRY CHANGING YOUR CHANNEL (GUIDE)
If you don't know how to connect to your Router, (and you're running Windows)
==>Click on Start > Accessories > Command Prompt

==>Type "ipconfig" (without the quotes["]) into Comman Prompt
==>The very first bunch of mumbo jumbo that pops up should display "Default Gateway" with a number similar to 192.168.1.1
==>Open up your Web Browser and enter in those numbers (as if you were typing in a typical URL, ie: Google.com. NOTE: Do not type "http://www.." Only the series of numbers)
==>This will bring up your router settings

==>If you've set up a user name and password, you will be asked to type this in before continuing. Often times, it's just blank for both fields or "admin" for either the username and password, or just the username, or just the password. I would highly suggest creating a username and password once you're logged in, if you haven't already done so. I'd also suggest remembering it.
==>Look for anything labeled "WIRELESS SETTINGS" Sometimes it's under "Home Network". Just keep clicking links if you have to until you find it. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING WHILE YOU'RE MESSING AROUND IN YOUR ROUTER IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING
==>Once you've located your Wireless Settings, look for anything labeled "WIRELESS CHANNEL"
==>You should see a dropdown box
==>Select a new channel (usually channeled 1-11 will exist)
==>Note that 1, 7 and 11 are fairly common channels. Try to avoid these numbers.
==>Save your changes.
==>Close your browser when the changes are saved and re-open it.
==>If you notice the connection is still slow, attempt to change the channel one more time.
==>If everything is fixed, then viola~!
==>If not, contact your ISP

How do I remove website saved user name and passwords from the PlayStation 3 web browser?

Q. I typed the correct user name but not the correct user password into a web page on my PlayStation 3. Now it holds onto that bad password and wont even take the manually typed correct password.

==>Save your changes.
==>Close your browser when the changes are saved and re-open it.
==>If you notice the connection is still slow, attempt to change the channel one more time.
==>If everything is fixed, then viola~!
==>If not, contact your ISP

What router should I buy for my PlayStation 3?
Q. Please help me. I don't own a router, but I plan on buying one to set up my PlayStation 3 internet. I have one computer and it is at most 15ft. away from my PlayStation 3 through a wall. I do not plan on setting up any other computers or anything to the network, just my PS3. What router should I buy so I can share my PC and PS3 connection?

A. I suggest a 2wire just because of the ease of compatibility with the PS3. I got one for free from the phone company for the DSL, it never drops a connection with the Media Sharing, we stream movies and music all of the time. I have a Linksys connected via hard wire to the 2wire just to offer more hard wire ports. I would recommend the Linksys, as a second choice, but it does present some level of difficulty as far as connectivity to the media sharing. The media sharing drops from the network quiet often with this router, or at least it use to, this may have been fixed in a patch update. I have also set up ps3 with both DLink and Netgear routers. I would not recommend the Netgear, because it is not easy to set up for the novice user, plus my experience is that it seems relatively slower. The Dlink is not bad, but doesn't have the best range, if you are connecting wirelessly. Sense you can't buy the 2wire just anywhere, I would suggest the the Linksys over the other two DLink and Netgear. It is the easiest of the three two set up, and if you have to call tech support, you will NOT find a better company to deal with. (Cisco) Linksys is by far the nicest and most helpful company I have ever dealt with, they have knowledge and experience.

==>Save your changes.
==>Close your browser when the changes are saved and re-open it.
==>If you notice the connection is still slow, attempt to change the channel one more time.
==>If everything is fixed, then viola~!
==>If not, contact your ISP

Is Playstation 3 safe to buy now or does it still have problems?
Q. I'm considering buying a Playstation 3 and I have researched a little bit to see if it's worth it. Apparently it has had various problems and defects. Has Sony fixed these problems? Are these problems even as common as people say they are? Should I even buy it?

A. The PS3 has had far far less problems than the XBOX 360 on whole. Would definitley be safe to buy.
